Consulting Service (IR, GI) aware of need and in agreement to preform procedure if daytime. If Late overnight, reasonable to defer discussion until morning. Impacted food bolus should be discussed at any time of day..
No other new complicating diagnoses suspected
No bleeding diathesis
Patient consentable or has consenting party present.
On full dose anticoagulation (needing washout)
Cannot be consented
Other complicating diagnosis present.
No service agreeing to perform procedure.
Order NPO @ midnight prior to procedure
Order Coag studies morning of procedure
Patient to be recovered in PACU / Endoscopy Suite after procedure before returning to CDU
Disposition
Endoscopy Successful, cleared by GI for discharge home
Complication develops during procedure or procedure cannot be performed in timely fashion
